Vous pouvez fabriquer vos propres couvertures d'album à l'aide de carton épais et de papier à motifs afin de créer des albums de la grosseur et de la couleur de votre choix. C'est aussi une façon abordable de concevoir un album à offrir en cadeau!

You can put together you own album covers with some thick cardstock or chipboard and Design paper. It is a great way to put together albums in the size and color that you want and an affordable way to make gift albums!

 

Matériel
Carton épais ou carton gris
Quatre feuilles de papier à motifs 
Colle en bâton
Règle
Plioir en os
Cisailles à papier
Machine Bind-It-All (facultatif)

Poinçon Coin arrondi (facultatif)

 

Supplies
Chipboard or thick cardstock
Four sheets of patterned paper
Glue stick
Ruler
Bone folder
Paper snips
Bind-It-All machine (optional)
Ribbon and embellishments (optional)
Corner rounder punch (optional)

 

1. Coupez le carton à la taille désirée.

Cut the chipboard at the wanted size.

 

 

 

2. Appliquez de la colle sur l'étendue de votre carton et collez en place sur l'envers de votre papier à motifs.

Apply glue all over your chipboard and glue on the back side of your Design paper.

 

 

 

3. Tournez le carton du côté du papier et utilisez un plioir en os pour bien adhérer la feuille et pour enlever les bulles d'air.

Turn the chipboard over and use a bone folder to adhere the paper to the chipboard and eliminate any air bubble underneath the sheet.

 

 

 

4. Utilisez les cisailles pour découper les coins légèrement en angle.

Use the paper snips to cut the corners off at an angle.

 

 

 

5. Pliez les rabats de papier sur votre carton et utilisez le plioir en os pour bien marquer vos plis. Il vous sera plus facile de marquer vos plis avant d'appliquer la colle.

Fold the paper flaps on the chipboard and use the bone folder to press down on the fold. Folding the flaps before adding glue will make the next step easier.

 

 

 

6. Appliquez de la colle sur vos rabats et collez en place.

CONSEIL : Un truc pour que la colle en bâton adhère vraiment bien est d'appliquer de la colle sur les DEUX morceaux, soit dans l'exemple présent, sur le rabat et sur la bordure du carton. La colle aura donc une meilleure adhérence sur une autre partie encollée que sur une surface sèche.

 

Add glue to the flaps and glue down on the chipboard.

TIP: A great way to insure that glue from a glue stick will really stay in place is to apply glue to BOTH pieces, in this instance, to the paper and the chipboard. The glue will stick better to a piece that has glue on it rather than a dry surface.

 

 

 

7. Coupez une de vos feuilles de papier à motifs légèrement plus petite que votre couverture (environ ½ po de moins). Si désiré, arrondissez les coins avec un poinçon, puis collez en place à l'intérieur de la couverture. Encore une fois, il est suggéré de mettre de la colle sur le carton de même que sur la feuille. Utilisez le plioir en os pour enlever les bulles d'air.

Cut a sheet of paper slightly smaller than your cover page (about ½ off each side) and round the corners off with a Corner rounder punch, if desired. Glue the lining inside the cover page, again using glue on both parts, and smooth sheet out with the bone folder.

 

 

 

CONSEIL : Si vous désirez décorer votre couverture avec d'autres papiers, il est suggéré de le faire avant de coller cette doublure à l'intérieur, car vous pourrez alors camoufler les bouts de votre papier sous la doublure (voir la bande verte dans l'exemple ci-dessous). En collant les bouts de votre papier sur l'envers du carton, les coins risquent moins de relever avec la manipulation.

TIP: If you plan on adding other pieces of paper on your cover, it might be best to do so before adding the lining inside the album (see green band on exemple below). This way, you can tuck in the ends of your paper under the lining, which will prevent the corners from sticking up over time.

 

 

 

 

8. Si vous désirez relier l'album avec un boudin, centrez la couverture dans votre machine (Bind-It-All dans mon exemple) et faites des trous. Afin de vous assurer que le boudin sera bien centré, utilisez une règle pour trouver le centre et alignez-le avec la ligne indiquant le centre sur l'appareil. Poinçonnez.

If you plan on binding your album, center the cover page in the binding machine (Bind-it-All in the exemple) and punch some holes. To make sure you are properly centered, use a ruler to find the middle of your cardstock and line it up with the centering line on the machine. Punch your holes.

 

 

 

9. Répétez les mêmes étapes pour créer votre couverture arrière. N'oubliez pas de faire vos trous du côté OPPOSÉ de la seconde couverture afin de vous assurer que la doublure sera bien à l'intérieur et que les motifs du papier soient dans le bon sens, le cas échéant.

Repeat all of the steps to make your second cover page. Don't forget to punch the binding holes on the OPPOSITE side of the second cover to make sure that the lining will be inside and that the designs on the paper will not be upside down!

 

 

 

Variantes
Au lieu de relier vos pages, faites plutôt un album accordéon en collant les couvertures directement sur les pages allant à l'intérieur de l'album.

Alternate options
Instead of binding your album, make an accordeon album and glue the cover pages directly on the top and bottom pages.
